Happy Spring✿❀❁

Nothing says spring like flowers.  How cute are these hanging from the ceiling! 

Today the kids had two members of the student council visit.  They were there to commend them for help raising the money for Autism.  This is Reese Stemper(Curtis' brother) on the left and Chris Klien on the right.  They are fourth graders from Mrs. Cordes class.

They were so cute fielding questions.  They got asked several times about wearing hats. I had to laugh as they politely said "no" ever time.

Demmer’s Monkey Business

for the week of: March 12-16

  Language Arts News:

On Monday we will begin reading the story Horace and Morris but Mostly Dolores. The skills for this story are:

• Fantasy
• ph, gh/f/
• Word Structure
• Author's Purpose
• Ask Questions

Spelling News:

The spelling pre-test for Horace and Morris but Mostly Dolores   will be on Monday, April 12^th. The final test for Horace and Morris will be on Friday, April 16^th. The skills for this test are words with ph, gh spellings.

Math News:

We will complete lessons 9.4 - 9.7. The skills are:  

• 9.4 Perimeter
• 9.5 Measuring Longer Distances

• 9.6 Exploring Capacity, Area, and Measures 
• 9.7 Area

The homelinks for this week will be 9.4 - 9.7.  Please be sure to check your child’s homelinks folder for these assignments each day.  

Volunteer News:

The April calendar was sent out this week!  If you’re available, please send in your calendar with your child and we will return it back to you. We still need 2 more volunteers for Friday, April 16^th stations from 12:30-2:30.

Accelerated News:

The class earned 30 points for this month so far.  

We will continue to work on reaching our goal for April.

Minnesota Zoo Field Trip

Special Messages for the Week:

*Check out your child’s class website on the Byron School website. http://www.bears.byron.k12.mn.us

**We will be going on an “all day” field trip to the Minnesota Zoo on Wednesday, April 14th.  

Here is an approximate schedule of our day:

• 8:15 Depart from Byron 
• 9:30 Arrive at Minnesota Zoo
• 10:00 Sea Turtle/Bird Class
• 1:15 Leave Minnesota Zoo 

Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  Also, students will need to bring a bag lunch.  Please keep the lunch “recyclable” friendly as we will be disposing of our trash at the Minnesota Zoo.  If you would like to order a lunch from our school cafeteria, please sign and return the slip that was sent home.  

* Report cards will go home with students on Friday, April 16. 

*The statewide Tornado Drill is scheduled for Thursday, April 22, 1:45 p.m.

* Students are to wear tennis shoes outside for recess.  Sandals, flip flops, and crocs are not to be worn on the playground.
