I have so many great pictures from today that I am going to post a few times. I am going to start with a few of my favorites and some "wacky tacky" faces!
I want to start with saying thank you to Jenavive's grandmother,(sorry if the name is misspelled, Matthew told me to call her Jelly:-) Her name is actually Monica too. She is there every friday! Thank you for your devotion to our kids.

Language Arts News
On Monday, we will begin a new story titled
One Dark Night. Below are the skills for this story:
- Realistic Fiction
- Prefixes un-, re-, pre-, dis-
- Context Clues
- Sequence
- Graphic Organizer
Spelling News:
The spelling pre-test will be on Monday, and the final test will be on Friday. These spelling words are words with prefixes un-, re-, pre-, and dis-. Look for the list on our website.
Math News:
We will finish up Unit 7 on Monday with the final test. On Tuesday, we will begin Unit 8 on fractions. The lessons for this week are as follows:
- 7.9 Progress Check and Test
- 8.1 Equal Parts of One
- 8.2 Exploring Fractions, Multiplication, Division and Volume
- 8.3: Collections of Things
The homelinks for this week will be 8.1 - 8.3. Please be sure to check your child’s homelinks folder for these assignments each day. We will be assessing Unit 7 next week.
Volunteer News:
The March calendar was sent out! If you’re available, please let me know. We love to have our parents come in and volunteer, if it works with your schedule. Thanks very much to the volunteers this week. You are so greatly appreciated.

The BES 2nd grade Winter Olympics have been re-scheduled for
March 19th (Friday), 1:00-2:30 p.m.
We need 4 parent volunteers.

*Check out your child’s class website on the Byron School website. http://www.bears.byron.k12.mn.us
*Children still need to be wearing hats, gloves, snow pants and warm coats for the winter weather. Pack an extra pair of socks for these sloppy days ahead.
*The BES Winter Olympics have been re-scheduled for March 19th (Friday), 1:00-2:30 p.m.
(Gopher Day – students/staff are encouraged to proudly wear their maroon and gold on the scheduled day of their Winter Olympics.) Activities will include: ball activities, obstacle course, story and hot cocoa.
*Daylight Saving Time Begins-Sun, March 14th.
*Lucky Book order due on March 17th. Check out the
great buys in this order.

SPRING PICTURES - Enstrom Studio will be here on Tuesday, March 30 and Wednesday, March 31 to take student’s pictures. Our class will take their pictures on March 31st at 11:15.
Top Banana of the week:
Our star banana for this week was Sydni Peterson. The next star is Brenna Queensland for the week of 3/15-19.
Accelerated News:
The class earned 120 points for this month. Way to go! We will continue to work on reaching our goal of 315 for March.
